Lugauke on google.

In light of knowing that my friends blog was on google. (When you search for it)
I decieded to give it a little try of my own.
Lo and Behold! Lugauke was spotted! (As inserted)
It will come out if you type "uke is the epitome of understated cool" or "lugauke".
I think its because google bought over blogspot hence, the appearance of my blog
on their search results.

The Problem of Pain - C.S Lewis.

If you think that pain doesn't add up at all in your equation with God, read this.
By the unconventional C.S Lewis.

Heres a funny-but-makes-alot-of-sense quote i found on the net.

"Can a mortal ask questions which God finds unanswerable?
Quite easily, I should think. All nonsense questions are unanswerable."

Sunday frisbee/today's band/Switchfoot concert

On sunday, after church, the girls (which included, nat, sarah, juni, vera) went to play frisbee @ sentosa with our teachers, gracie, azmi and justin (our P6 teacher). The surprising thing was, that no boys from our class went. Yes, and its kinda ironic, or weird because well normally boys take part in sports more actively than girls, but in this case its the exact opposite! It really breaks the stereotype of girls. Which is good of course. =) i guess. but bad for boys.

Anyways, the day went great. We played. We had fun. We were happy.
Oh yes, thank God for the awesome weather. Yes, i said awesome.
Because these few days, it has been raining quite a bit. But not on sunday.
Not on that particular sunday.
In fact, the weather was so good, that the sun wasn't too hot, and there was a little drizzle,
but than again, it was a little drizzle.
The whole day was kept cool.
Because God answered my prayers.
Yes, prayer works.
You better believe it. ;)

We did have a bit of problem going there at first though.
After eating at Seah Im, we headed to vivo.
Unfortunately, the queue for the train to sentosa was longer than long.

It was VERY VERY VERY x a googolplex long. Yes, it was that long.

After much deliberation, we decided to take the bus there.
Which was a good idea, because the bus didn't take long to arrive.

And so, we were on our way to sentosa.
To what would be a very frisbee-filled afternoon!

When we got there, the weather was awesome like i said.
Not too hot, not too cold.
Just nice.

So than we played.
and played.
and played.
and played.

We swooped teams occasionally.

Juniper always marked me, and i always marked her.
I think she did a much better job if you minus the fact that she was holding my hand when i was trying to get the frisbee. (FYI, this is not allowed if you play properly, not that we weren't but you get what i mean.)

But than again i did that to her too. (;
So it was all in good will and fun.

Azmi tried to play, to the delight of my friends.
We found him, well, 'cute'.
If you might say. Yes, but that cute, the other cute.
We appreciated that at least he tried.
Thats what counts ;)
And also he took glorious shots with his canon camera.

I was competing with him.
He won only because he was using a canon camera (which could select colours to emphasize on... and a WHOLE lot of other stuff..)

After frisbee, we headed back to mainland Singapore to eat.
We unanimously decided to eat @ vivo after i finally managed to convince juni.

We ate downstairs at kopitiam because it was cheaper comparatively to the other hawker centers in vivo.

Justin, our ex-teacher, was well, lets just say i got to see the true side of him.
Endless chatter, comments, re-enactments of the day all done by him.
Yup, i didn't know he talk that much either.

So, after dinner we split or splited (if there is such a word) up.
Well, mostly justin, cause nat's mom was kind enough to send me home, and we decided to walk juni to the bus-stop. To make sure she was safe and sound. :)
Sigh what can i say? We are good friends. Or reliable friends. haha.

As we walked we talked.
And as we did that, we attracted quite a bit of attention.
But it wasn't intentional.
We were laughing and just being silly.
Which of course attracts attention.
Mainly because,
1. people are curious (kay-poh, singaporean way of saying curious)
2. people envy us.

I mean who doesn't like to laugh right???
Maybe their thinking, "sigh, i wish i were like that too.."
You know how i know?
I get that feeling too when i see people laugh.
Its a natural reaction.
Because naturally people want to be happy.
Who wants to be sad??

Anyways, after we sent juni to the bus stop, her bus soon arrived and we left. (nat and i)

That was sunday.

Today. Wednesday. 1 day after christmas.

I had to wake up at an unearthly hour (7 40am) for band.
The symphonic band in which is my Co-Curriculum activity aka CCA.
But, band wasn't all that bad after you get over the fact that you have to wake up at an unearthly hour for it.

I got to play the timpani!
Yup, i had to read a musical score.
For real.
It was challenging but fun.

In case you are not sure what timpani's are, there are these huge looking drums,
that are actually tuned to notes like (eg:G,F,B-flat,C)

It was good.
Band was.
Except for the part where we had to 'exercise'.

Anyways, enough on band.
Today, is the first day sistic has put switchfoot's concert on their website!!

Check it out! Here. Link on the 'here'.
Booking starts on the 31st Dec.
Good yet bad.
Good because we can start ordering.
Bad because it's the last day of the year. (as well as holidays, which signify the start of school)

bummer.

Oh well, lets be thankful eh?
At least there was a break :)

Oh and if you know me and want to come for the switchfoot concert, pls comment or email me @ priscillacomiccooper@msn.com so that we can buy as a big o group which means more discounts. :)

Peace,
pris.

Music Therapy #1: worship.

I searched for You, my God of Strength.
I Bow to You in my brokeness.
No other King could i so humbly come.
To save my soul and heal my heart.

I have nothing more,
than all You offer me.
There is nothing more,
thats of worth to me.

And i love You Lord.
You rescued me.
You are all that i want.
You're all i need.

(chorus)
In Your Freedom,
i will live.

I offer devotion.
I offer devotion.

-Hillsong United/ Saviour King album

Oh Lord, You've searched me.
You know my way,
Even when i fail You.

I know You love me.

Your holy presence
surrounding me
In every season

I know You love me
I know You love me

(chorus)
At the cross i bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this.

You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place.
What can separate me now?

You go before me.
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me

I know you love me.

-Hillsong United/ Mighty to Save album.

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Chris Tomlin.

Cooking/Juni's concert

Lately this holiday, i have been cooking. Maybe its to take boredom of my mind. Anyways, i have cooked lots of stuff including, roti prata, potatos, noodles, etc.... The best part about cooking is that you can experiment with food and not get accused of 'playing with food' which is unacceptable in our culture or any culture i think.

And here i cooked potatoes! Inspired by my favourite celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver!

It looks really good, but a pity it doesn't taste as good as it looks.

Anyways... Today i attended Juni's choir concert. I thought it was really cute.
The whole event.

I am very proud and happy that i have demolished my bad reputation of being late. =D
I arrived the earliest today for the concert. I arrived at around 4 or 3 mins to 7pm when the meeting time was at 7 30pm.

I sat in the car at first to wait. I didnt want to wait in the building. So i waited and waited until at around 7.13pm my dad walked me to the place. Less than a min when we arrive, nat came in walking in. So my dad left us there.

Nat and i waited there for quite awhile, until we decided to take a little tour of our own around the building. It wasn't a big building so it was ok. We explored here and there. There were 2 levels. It was kinda like a shop house. At least it looked like one. When we were upstairs, we heard the choirs rehearsing. We wanted to take a peek but thought not. (Too pai say)

So than we walked back downstairs again. Walked back and forth. And than not before long we spotted Juniper's family. Than i waved and someone waved back, can't remember who, maybe it was the sis. And than we said "hi" and stuff like that. Than they gave us our tickets. 3 tickets to be exact. For me, nat and gracie.

Because it was free seating we could seat anywhere. So after giving us our tickets they left. We called gracie to ask where she was. She said she was 'on the way'. We waited and waited. And waited and waited and waited and waited and, oh ya, waited. Yes we waited that long. We were supposed to be seated 10mins before which meant 7 50pm because it started at 8pm. Nat and i went outside and waited and waited. For gracie to come. We called her like 3 times and sent her msg 3 times. Yes. She caused us much stress. Everyone was going in except us. It was 3 mins and no sight of her. Finally i called and she arrived. Finally. I told her that she was fortunate we weren't cars or we would have been toiled away long ago because we were standing at the side of the road on the double yellow line.

We quickly went inside and gave our tickets to the person. But it was full downstairs, hence we had to sit upstairs. Upstairs wasn't too bad. Just for the someone-urinated-on-seat-before chairs. They were like cinema seats. Just that these were heavy. Really heavy. Like if you were to stand up, the bottom part of the sit flops back really fast and hits the back part of the chair hard. So dont stand up too quickly.

They didnt start on time but it was ok. When i looked at the ticket i realized something. This was a St.Andrews Choir concert not a Cresent Girls concert but they were guests. "Oh... i see" yup.
I thought that the St.Andrews choir started a bit rough. But otherwise it was ok. It was so good, apparently that gracie dozed off. Yup she did.

When she saw this photo, she said "Ooh.. i look so peaceful!"
Peaceful alright.

But when Cresent came on, she straighten up. Cresent was good. They were really good. And i am not saying this just cause my friend is inside, but seriously they were good.

See for yourself. Or rather hear for yourself. (;
Go to a Cresent concert. The vid is too big to be uploaded.
It will take forever to upload.

During intermission (which was 10mins) we had nothing better to do hence:

After the concert. Food was provided. Yes. I was staving. How timely.
I took a molehill of food while gracie took a mountain. Maybe she was trying to build the Mt.Everest of food, i am not sure. But i was surprised that she finished it all. good on her.

So than after that, i sent nat home while in the process got kinda lost. But its ok. We finally found her house.

Tomorrow.
Frisbee.
Yes!

I hope it doesn't rain.
pray it doesn't.

NT: Book of secrets

National Treasure 2, Book of secrets. Awesome show i went to watch it with my pops yesterday @ 10.40am in the morning. Yes. I actually woke up that early. For my favourite movie, why not? I am glad that it was really good and not some letdown. Because alot of sequels do. But not this one.

So, my rating?
I give it 4 and 1/2 stars.

Heres an extended trailer of the movie. Mostly on the car chase scene.

Enjoy.

Church Camp

I actually wanted to write about the church camp here. I wanted to give my xanga blog like an inside scoop, of some sort, so that people would go there and stuff,(which is why i took so long in posting) however, i got so fustrated trying to figure out how to use xanga that i gave up. Hence the so called *scoop now belongs here, to my blogger blog. Oh well, i guess blogger is fine too.

Ok, church camp..

Hmmm, i have to admit one thing, it didn't really feel like a church camp. I am not sure why, but the church campy feeling just wasn't there. And don't get me wrong, matt and the camp comp did a fantastic job, its just that maybe it was too short. Anyways we did lots of stuff there. It was held @ Port Dickson, Malaysia, This is my 2nd time there, the first was for youth camp, (PLUNGE) last year.

Here are some of the highlights:

1. I got to know my friends better, i made 2 new friends, and got to know the rest better.
And the rest included nat. Nat and her sis. Whom i name small nat and big nette. I learned from nat that this is what i should do when drying my hair. Or at least, she does it.

(It still cracks me up now and then when i watch it... )

2. We went fishing!! Yup and we caught 6 fish, or fishes or whatever you call it. But yes we caught fish! And a crab, but my dad threw it back into the sea.

Than nat and i tried to wash it by putting it into the sink...

3. On the first day, we laughed reasonably hard. Oh and we even created certain lingos. Like you use your pinky and say while making the sound effect " I zhuke you ah!" And than there was ah, you know how chinese say touch wood because of superstition? Well, we came up with "Touch toe! Touch toe!" It really was ridiculous, and the ridiculousness of it all made us crack up.

And so many more, just that i am lazy to type it out.

On the way here, i sat with vera on the bus. I tried to perform magic tricks, and thankfully, she wasn't able to figure out 1 trick. I even did a magic show just for kicks.

Than on the way back i sat with another nat, natalie. A year younger that me, whoa, she really knew how to stock up on food! She had a whole range of food for me to choose from. I ate alot of her 'Wang Wangs'. Really addictive.

On the whole, i felt like it was more of a 'bonding' camp than it was a church camp. Weird really. But nevertheless, quite fun.

Anyways today i went to the orthodontist's. She changed the wire, as well as the rubber band thingy, now, my upper set of teeth is blue and the lower set is red.
However, 1 of my teeth now hurt, or rather aches just a bit. Like it is gonna drop off any moment.

Oh well, all part and parcel of getting the 'Perfect Smile!' :D (tink! teeth shines, sound effect..)

I got some really cool shots from the camp.

( Nat took this one...)

These 2 photos are really cool, nat and her sis were on the bus opposite from ours, when i took these.

How cool is that??
We both were trying to take pictures of each other on our buses, i did, however they couldn't. Unfortunately, our bus's windows had too much reflection.

Well, that basically is church camp.

Hot of the Press! #1 (or not)

Switchfoot's coming to Singapore! Yes, the band's coming to the 'little red dot'! They will be coming on the 31st Jan 2008. I am sooooo going. They will be performing at the Max Pavillion. As confirmed here.

However i don't think the tickets are on sale yet. Yet. But soon i guess. Check sistic for more info.

The following above article is taken from "The Straits Times". The most prominent newspaper in Singapore.

My alternate. blog

www.iampris.wordpress.com nothing much written on it. But more to come soon.

Mediacorp TV12/Maid/Laupasat

Today i followed my parents down to the city where they had to settle some maid stuff.. I got a bit bored and started wandering around... The building was called "SpringLeaf" and it had no carpark for visitors only season parkers. The insurance company was on the 28th floor, in all the building had about 32 i think. The lift went really fast. You could hear your ears blocking up because of the pressure. A pity i didn't bring my camera along and instead left it in the car. I was fascinated that we parked at Mediacorp's TV12 carpark.

And when we came out after just spending 1h 30 mins there, we paid a staggering S$6.00! Thats S$2 for every half hour! MAD! Thats what i thought........ But than again we were in the CBD area, well, what could i expect?

But after the maid thing was settled, we went to eat at "Lau Pa Sat". If thats how you spell it. We walked from the mediacorp carpark all the way to Lau Pa Sat. To my amazement, it had very interesting architecture. It was a white building on the inside that looked like you were in one of the old churches in Italy. I thought the food was only average, which was quite a let down because i heard alot about Lau Pa Sat, but than again maybe i just didn't try the food from the right stalls.... Oh well... oh and the food to my dismay was also quite expensive... i thought it would be cheaper because it was a hawker centre. But oh well, we were in the CBD area after all right?

After i came home, i went out again to get M&M shirts. They are really cute.. Really really cute.

Than after that, my brother and i got inspired by "Jamie at home" (the show) that we decided to cook. My food was well, not too bad.

I cooked 2 dishes, the first, egg omelette with biscuit crumbs.

The 2nd, Egg pasta cooked in butter oil. Mmm..... good stuff.. just that i burnt a bit of the pasta which in turn became a bit crunchy.

But still on the whole, a success! =)

This is what i did to my brother's hair yesterday....

Pretty good eh?
Just after a bath, hence the hair could stand because of the water.
So its just pure water. and hair of course.

1 more day to church camp.

mrbean's holiday

Yes this is the trailer, but the whole movie is really funny.. Well in a lame way.
You have to lower your IQ to laugh, its like laugh yourself silly kind of thing.
You should watch it.

uke sites

These are a few of my newly discovered favourite uke websites:

www.ukeland.com
www.ukecast.com
www.ukefarm.com
www.uketalk.com
www.liveukulele.com

You won't regret.

I like to point out that ukecast is really a website of ukulele podcasts. They are currently in their 226th episode. Really good stuff. They get different uke artist to play every episode. And than on ukefarm.com you can listen to ukulele music! On the radio, on the net. You can download 'home recordings' which is uke music recorded by home viewers or rather listeners in this case. And thats not the end, you can also download a whole 'dictionary' of all the chords of the uke onto your comp. All this for free. Sure you can donate, but they don't force you to. Don't you just love technology sometimes? ukeland is kinda like a brother website of ukecast. And uketalk is where i found all these websites =) They were under links.

Beach (well sort of...)/music reviews

Today i went with my pops and bumps to the east to get some fishing gear. In the process i got a camera bag look a like, its really cute. After that, we went to the sea. Well sort of, i don't really know how to describe it, it ain't a jetty and it obviously isn't a beach. See for your self. The wind was blowing really hard and strong today. After the beach we also went to giant to do some grocery, there i spotted "Mr Bean's Holiday" going for only 10 bucks! Yes, what a deal! I grabbed it...

And now, heres the day in motion, well most of it was taken at the beach (or whatever you call it)

You must be wondering why today's pictures look exceptionally good. Well, i will be lying if i said nat wasn't helping me =) Nat's the best there is, i mean seriously...

Heres an example of what my pics look like before nat's midas touch.

Whoa...... right? yes i know... i got the same reaction too

Anyways after i came home, i checked my mail as per normal and checked out my usual sites. Today i discovered a new band, they're like a mix between coldplay and switchfoot. Really interesting. And they are called "RuthRock". http://www.myspace.com/ruthrock - Listen to their first song on myspace, its called "Mr Turner". I thought it was really good.

Heres an interview with chad butler (drummer of switchfoot) also one of my favourite drummers.

I’ve seen you several times in concert and you always have so much energy. How do you keep up with each show every night after years of touring?
Gosh I wish I had some secret recipe for staying healthy! Really, for us the motivation is connecting with people. I think for so much of the importance we put on bands on stage, it’s a false reality. The hour we spend on stage is less important than the rest of the day and how we interact with people. To hang out with fans after the show and talk about life is one of the most important parts for me. In our live show there’s a conversation, it’s a two-way dialogue. To have the audience singing it back is amazing, to have people after each show come up and say how much a song means to them, that’s motivating. Our motto has always been “life is short, live it well.” It comes to have a significance. Each day that I wake up and get to play music that I love and get to travel the world with my best friends is great and I don’t take it for granted…each breath is a gift.

At first you guys were known more as a Christian-based band. After 6 albums you’ve greatly expanded your music and fan base. Was there a process at all or goal to grow out of being known more as a Christian band?
We’ve always been very up-front about what we believe and who we are. Faith is just as important to me now as it was 10 years ago. Only other people will call you what they will. For us it’s always been about making honest music. For me, I don’t see a significant change in who we are at all…I think hopefully there’s a broader, wider audience. I think it’s a wonderful thing to have more people listening to the music. For me it’s about thinking people. I think it’s to make honest music for thinking people.

Are there plans in the works for your next album?
Yes. We started this summer. By August we recorded 14 new songs. We’ve been recording on the road a little bit. When we get done with this tour we’re going into the studio and will be putting that out probably a year from now.

What kind of sound can fans expect with the new album?
I think we’re definitely experimenting. We’re in a mode of trying new sounds and so far it’s been really exciting. In the mean time we’re pretty excited. Jon’s finally getting to put out his solo acoustic EP’s. As a newly independent band we’re getting more of a creative outlet; being able to put out music whenever we want, and put our music out more directly to our audience whenever we could. Jon’s EP comes out later this month titled Fall.

You guys have your own record label now, right?
Yes, it’s called Lowercase People Records. It’s something we started as a vehicle to get our music out more directly to our audience. Jon also has a side-project with Sean Watkins from Nickel Creek, called The Real SeanJon. He’s working on putting that out early 2008. We’re just excited to finally hear some of these songs Jon’s been playing late at night at coffee shops down the street after our concerts. Those are finally getting the light of day. It’s an exciting time for us as a band. This is our first tour as independent band. We’re doing something much bigger than selling records. It’s playing music with the people you love and a much bigger cause than Switchfoot. We’re changing people’s lives around the country and the world.

I also discovered another website to get music reviews, www.yousingiwrite.blogspot.com - really good too. Got the chad butler interview from there. You can read the rest of it there...

3 more days to church camp!
