The story of the cube, the Rubik's cube.
- Me amusing myself.
- i think somewhere down the line, the tan's and the lim's met.
I am not going to tell you how the rubik's cube came about because i believe you can access the net and search about the history of the cube and stuff like that. Instead, i am going to tell you how i got my own rubik's cube.
It all started, yesterday.
Yesterday on msn, nat asked if i was doing anything. I said i wasn't.
Than she told me she'll be in church with her mom for some elderly meeting of the ladies of our church. It sounded interesting.... haha. Ok, maybe not interesting interesting but well, interesting nevertheless. So i said why not. Ok that wasn't exactly what i said but you get what i mean.
So off i went to church with my bro.
When i reached, i was surprised i was early.
I waited not long maybe about 25mins, before nat arrived.
Oh, oh but before that, i helped this old lady who was carrying something really heavy.
And boy was it heavy. So i am glad i helped her.
Anyways, it turned out that the old lady was attending the same meeting as i was.
Well, kind of.
So than nat and i went up and i got to hold her precious SLR.
It was magnificent.
It had a particular sound when you took a shot.
And i loved it.
Oh no, don't worry i am not coveting. =)
Just describing.
Other than taking a few shots here there and everywhere,
we also helped them set up the dvd and TV, ate some food,
and yeah thats about it.
After the meeting, nat and i went to vivo.
Walked around, talked. You know the stuff you do at vivo.
Than after that, we went into Toys R Us and behold i saw the .....
RUBIK'S CUBE!!!!
Yes. It was love at first sight.
But sadly, monetary issues kept us apart.
I didn't bring enough money that day,
hence i would have to come back the next day, which is today to buy it.
Separation was tough but it was meant to be.
So after that, nat and i meant her sis and her mom for dinner.
What lovely people. The dinner was great.
The ambiance was pretty. And the people were lovely.
Like i said.
We ate at this jap restaurant downstairs vivo @ B1 which i never knew existed.
It was cool. I ate Suba something-something, which actually in english was mackerel.
After we were done, the waitress came to us with the bill.
Nat dared me to ask her why the whole crew would yell something in jap whenever someone entered. The exact words? " I dare you to ask her what she saying, if you dare i'll buy for you the rubik's cube." Suddenly, the dare sounded interesting.
And to cut the long story short, i did.
I dared.
And that is how i got my lovely little 3 by 3 cube.
Its the best thing ever.
Best puzzle ever.
Better than soduku (which isnt even fun) , scrabble, word puzzles, you name it.
What attracts you most to it, is that the more you play with it the more you want to play with it.
The more determined you become.
Mr. Rubik sure was a genius to invent something like that.
At the moment, i can only solve one side.
I cannot solve all at one go.
But i soon hope to be able to.
And of possible the world record holder. =)
I only have one thing to say....
"LONG LIVE THE RUBIK'S CUBE!".

Post 99/Debate comp/

These darker shots are 'darken' by nat.
Shes the best. =)

The Shadow of friendship. OR. we are 'dai lao ban'.
hmm i prefer 'dai lao ban' cause thats what i am gonna be.

My 'high class' gummy bears. I bought em from cocoa trees. (the shop of course.)

Best foot forward.
Whoa.. i just realized this is post 99! Almost a 100! whee... 1 more to a 100.
Hmm.... i have been pretty slack in blogging lately, but you can't blame me for that because i have been really busy last week and the week before. School just started and apparently, i am still adjusting. Well, at least i write the year as 2008 now. =) Anyways, i also realized that it just isn't blogging that i have been slacking in, its well, almost EVERYTHING. Like, i just don't feel like doing anything school-related besides my CCA's band and debate now. (yes, i do like band. Weird though, its like i grew-to-like kind of thing, inky yes i know, but its true. Perheps its the friends and bonds you form unconsciously and you only realize it when you stop going. Like for eg, last week i missed all my band trainings for debate as there was a competition, in which we didn't even win ( more on that later.. and yes a bracket in a bracket, don't you learn algebra?!?) I felt so, so, so musically deprived. Yes, there is such a thing.
Oh and speaking of the debate comp (yes, ms hia this is for you... you better read it.)
It was so... well discouraging, because you put in so much effort but you just don't see the results.
Results, results, results.
Thats what i need.
But what i have been having is, (instead)
processes, processes, processes.
Hmm... maybe now is the process period.
Not the results period.
And it seems as though sometimes its never ending.
Well, thats when you practice this " When the going gets tough, the tough get going".
Hmm... but i am curious (this is my 2nd hmm already...i need more expressions)
what if you aren't tough, does that mean you don't get going??
Maybe. (2nd time i am using maybe.)
Maybe not. (3rd)
I am not so sure.
But what i am sure of is, when i talk alot, and express things aloud or rather outloud,
I process better. No process as in think.
Which is why in debate. Never ask me to brainstorm. I usually dont get anything.
Mainly because we don't talk and whats more have to remain silent.
Wow.
An amazing feat.
I wonder how debaters do that.
Anyway, back to the point (its a amazing how far i can drift from the point, which is.... see you forgot, i really drifted.... the point is about the debate comp... haha, do i hear a "oh yeah..."??, if not, than your memory's just as bad as mind. Good, we're in the same boat. But unfortunately, its sinking....)
ANYWAYS... (before i start drifting again...)
Debate Comp.
Hmm.... well, all i know is that i really really really tried my best.
And to be honest, i am proud of myself.
I can say in full confidence, that i did my best and there was nothing i could do to make my performance better. But don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean that i will not improve. Of course i will. Even Rachel Kwai (or however you spell it... oh and FYI shes the best debater according to everyone except me cause i really haven't heard her speak... yet.) has room for improvement!
Yeah but the day past really fast.
The schools we faced were RI and Xin Min to both we fell to.
Sadly.
But it was interesting.
Once again, it was an interesting process or also known as exposure or what ever you call it.
Anyways, on a lighter note, here are some pics of jamie's birthday. Er, they are above.
Too lazy to bring em down.

2nd Week of Schoo/Birthdays/Undignified
It is only the second week of school and i already have bagloads of homework. How encouraging.
No honestly, its so tiring. Especially when you take 2 CCA's which in total requires you to stay back 4 times out of the 5 day week in school. And we usually stay back till 6 plus.
Yup.
But i am proud of myself. I managed to clear 95% of my homework on a friday night.
Friday nights are the best.
But they past too quickly.
Far too quickly.
Because before you know it, its sunday night again and you find yourself dreading monday.
Anyways, i am not here to brood.
Or maybe i am.
But, tomorrow is saturday!
Yes!!
Finally....
Its like,
"where have you been saturday?"
"As usual, after friday, before sunday..."
"I knew it."
Hmm saturday.
Speaking of saturday or typing of saturday.
Tomorrow.
Things i have on:
1. Debate workshop in the morning.
2. Friend's birthday lunch.
3. Undignified.
Yup.
Thats what i am having on sat.
Hope Undignified will really be Undignifiedly Undignified.
Its ok if you don't get it.
You will, one day.
On, Undignified day.
Tomorrow.
5pm.
Here.

Mr.Turner
Its this song called "Mr. Turner". Its really good.
I couldnt get the song alone so i found this on youtube just for the song.
There isnt a vid. It is by Ruthrock. They opened for switchfoot and have teamed
up with them as well as relient K performing the song "rebuild".
Watch out for the part at 2.13ish, the build up.
It really sounds like coldplay.

Flu/Switchfoot tickets

Today, i went to the doctor's around 12.25pm. The clinic was closing @ 12.30pm. Thank God we made it there. Apparently according to the doctor, i have a "very bad throat infection". Which i guess accounts for the terrible pain i feel, coughing, throat-loads of phlegm, a slight fever which causes the air in my throat to feel really really hot, blocked nose, blocked ears.
Thanks to the flu, now i can't hear more than ever ...
Yup.
After getting the medicine. My parents and i sent my bro to church and than we ate at TB 79.
After that, we sent my mom to a church for some meeting..
Now, here comes the more exciting part.
My pop and i went to the indoor stadium to collect the Switchfoot Tickets!
It was really exciting.. Even for me!
Ok... so only for me.. But still.....
haha. And than since we ordered in a massive group of 21, (okay, maybe not that massive)
My dad asked for 21 ticket envelopes, one for each.
The counter lady was like "Oh.. Okay..." and than she starting counting the envelopes.
Well, today is sat.. Sat night.
The first sat of the year.
And so quickly it is slipping by.
This year we changed classes.
Sadly... i am in 2A with very little friends.
But its ok, i am sure there are more to come.
i hope.
And so the countdown starts,
26 more days to the concert.

Back-To-School blues
Heres a little something to chase away the back-to-school blues.
Its a spoof of the movie Saw 4, which totally went wrong....
Hilarious.
