When Words Fail Me...

Sometimes even words fail the most eloquent,
And ideas fail the most creative.

But Love Never fails.
Jesus Never Fails.

Just recently, i was reading Job from the Bible.
And i TOTALLY didnt get it.
It wasnt because i was dumb.
But because.. i just didnt have the right perspective.
Okay so if you're not too familiar with the Bible, or Job for that matter,
Jobs about a guy whose name is Jobs and basically is this really innocent guy, all righteous and all.
So than, one day, Satan appears before God and says that Job is only trusting God because God has given him riches and all.
But God doesnt think so.
So what God does is that He allows Satan to 'test' him by allowing satan to take away Job's riches, family and even health.
The funny thing was, Job obviously, didnt not know about this whole thing that was going on.
Bad things just started happening to him.

And that got me thinking...
Why on earth would God want to play with Job just because He wanted to prove a point to satan? I thought, 'man.. thats really cruel...'
And it just didnt seem right for God to do that, since He was Love and all.

So i asked God, (no i really did...) Why.
Why did He do what He did to Job.
WHY.

So than i slept on it.
Went to school.
The next night, somehow i asked my father about it.

And to my amazement, he didnt exactly know the ans either!
He flipped open the Bible and we started to search for the ans together.
And as we were talking suddenly... like it just hit us.
The ans just flew in our faces.
It was as if God was talking to me through my pops!
It was SURREAL.

So essentially,
The reasons for our suffering are many.
It could be because we brought it upon ourselves through sin and all...
But sometimes, God brings these sufferings on us.
And for a very valid reason too.

God brings suffering to refine us.
Sometimes He even (like in Jobs case) has to push us to EXTREME conditions in order to
reveal our true heart and our intentions. Things sometimes we dont even know about.
I like the analogy of the furnace and gold.
Gold, as we all know is an element in the periodic table.
Gold, in order to be pure has to be refined.
And going through the process of refinement is painful.
Because Gold has to be put through BLAZING temperatures in order for its impurities to be extracted.

So yeah... do you get that?
I hope you do.

Anyhows,
If you're going through any sort of suffering dont worry.
It isnt always because of what we do.
It could be because God is refining you. Me. Us.
And that to me... in order to bring out real inner beauty in all of us is just simply...
Too marvelous for words.

There is a limit to how much we can comprehend, for our minds are finite.
But God, His Infinite.
So everytime you dont understand something about Him, it really isnt your fault.
Just ask Him, and i am very sure He'll answer.
Just like He did for me.

Tennis was great with nat today, but only towards the end.
Lesson learnt: Tennis is always better indoors. (haha!)
No kidding.

Anyways, i was able to watch the rest of "I am Sam" cause Carissa had the disc.
Cause i went over to study with her (and i did CHEM! YESHH, carissa and i use each other to bounce off to understand stuff...)
Anyhows,
IT WAS SO GOOD.
Sean Penn is a phenomenal actor.
Really he is.



You should totally watch it regardless of whether you have already or not.
Yeah... one of the things that caught my attention most was what Michelle Pfeiffer's character said, because she was representing Sam (sean penn) in court in a bid to keep his daughter together with him. And when the Prosecuter stood up to tell Sam that he had the intellect of a 7 year old child, Michelle Pfeiffer's character objects, and says,
"It is clear that one's intellectual capacity has no bearing on their ability to love.."
Wow right?
That was such a good line.
Though she said it quite quickly.
Overall i would give the movie, 5 stars outta 5.
I mean come on, with a star studded cast and a line like that, how can you not right?

John had a good friend called Stephen.
Stephen was serving as a Youth Leader in Church,
And than one day, he prayed in church that if he could sacrifice his life for the youths of America to come to know Jesus, he would.
That very day, he got into a car accident and died.
John his good friend was crushed.
But despite that, out of that, he wrote this song: "How He Loves us".
And this song has gone viral across America.
People are coming to know Jesus because of this song and his story.

Compassion

I never really knew what compassion was until today.
It was a divine definition.
Compassion really means, seeing, feeling (sympathy stops short here, but compassion goes on with one more step.) and doing something about it.
That my friend, is compassion. DOING something about it.

And i think that compassion is such a...a Jesus thing.
Like that would be something He would do.
If He saw someone or something like that.
When kevin foo spoke about it today during youth service,
I really felt God strike a chord in my heart.
It was so real, so personal, so true and honest.
How many times have we (yeah this is one of those thought provoking, stop-and-think-about-it-moments...) always wanted to be in the 'in' group and not
perhaps associated with people who just didn't fall into that category?
Or maybe how many times have we (conveniently might i add..) left out the so called 'loners' or not include others just because they may seem a little 'weird'?
I say ALOT.
I know i have.
I've always been the one to make fun of others. (Like really. I am terrible.)
The one who loves to be in the 'in' crowd.
I mean.. come on.. who doesn't?
At some point in time, i am sure we all have.
But and the end of the day, it is really what you hold most dear in your heart that will prevail.
And if i dare claim to Love God,
Than I should therefore Love the things that He loves too.
The People He holds dear to His heart.
The EXACT People we (christians.. included) call "weird".

I could tell everyone at the end of the service was pretty shook up.
And i thought that it was really great because that is exactly what we needed.
To be shaken out of our oh-so-comfort zones we are in, complete with air conditioners and iPhones.

Thank God i went for Youth Service today, was a blast.
Oh yes btw, (you should know by now i love acronyms) check this vid out,

HAHA It was/is so funny i kept laughing even long after it was over.

National Lit Fest and Good Chicken Rice.

Last night (or this morning) , i slept at 2am and woke up at 740am just for NLF.
Because it was @ Potong Pasir. Like whaaatt?? Right??
Yes i know. SO far.
Butttttttttttttttttttttttt, (i dont mean buttocks)
Thank God, we won.
So it was well worth it i guess.
We even received a trophy! But it goes to the school. -_-
Haha.
Anyways, the comp was held at St.Andrews Secondary School and i was so impressed with the school that for this whole afternoon today, i wanted to go to SAJC. (haha...)
I dont know about now though.

After the NLF, i went to vivo to eat lunch with kim and mich.
We ate at the chicken rice shop but it was more of a restuarant in my opinion.
I had the most expensive chicken rice i have ever paid for. Haha...
Oh but at least, it was goooood.

If i were to make a speech about today i would say this:
"Thank God for our victory today.... and all our noble 'fans' who came today to support us.
For that, i salute you! (salutes vigorously....)"

P.S there are no pictures cause all the people who took photos who are my friends are too tired or lazy to do so. Plus all the pics of me anyways are alllll... SUPER unglam. Urgh. Whats the point? haha..
