NBC GOLD!
Whoa... haven't blogged in a long while. BUT i have a reason, a perfectly good reason. I have been really really busy lately. NBC was last Sunday, which we won a GOLD!!!! And which i will elaborate more on later. Than last saturday i had this"Poetry Slam" competition in which i was utterly humiliated, and SHAN'T elaborate more on later. Well, actually i have alot of things to talk about, hmm but lets see if i remember to talk about em.
Firstly, NBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay for the majority who do not know, NBC stands for National Band Competition, its the 2nd most prestigious competition for school bands. Thank God we were awarded a GOLD!
A raw score of 84.7/100, making us the 2nd in your division. We were __ THIS close to distinction, a mere 0.3 away..... Only 1 band got Gold with distinction in our division, Anglican High.
Hmm not bad, but... we'll be better the next time round!
This is the percussion section of Fairfield Methodist Secondary School,
awaiting the results in the band room.
As you can see the anticipation.....

(okay so maybe not...)

Or they just have weird ways of expressing anxiety.....

Okay, just to clear up the misconceptions, brain and i do NOT have the same pair of
sunglasses, i just lend it to him, just for kicks.

There! Finally! S.U.P! The BEST section in the world, ever!
AND may i add, the FUNNEST section ever! We do all the stupid funny stuff and ALSO,
ALSO, we can play too.
So our motto?
"Can slack, but must be able to play.." - as stated by Nathaniel Ghui ex-section leader of percussion, 2007-2008.
Okay, so the order of the day was...
We arrived @ school on Sunday, 13th July, at an unearthly hour of 0700hours.
And surprisingly i wasnt late. I think so.. Yeah should be.
So we tuned our instruments and everything... As per normal.
(Lets fast forward)
When we arrived there, we were led to this room which is called a tuning room tune,
and play for awhile before we got on stage.
I was SO nervous, but it was at the same time, exciting. Really exciting.
Finally it was our turn. We went on stage.
It happened, so fast.
Everything did.
And than, it was all over, everything that we practised for...
Its funny how you practise so hard for months when the actual things takes merely,
10mins.
But it was ALL worth it.
FSB got GOLD with a raw score of 84.7!!!!!
Thank God really. We did make a few mistakes and hence it was TOTALLY unexpected!
We thought the most we were going to get was a silver! And the least? COP - Certificate of Participation. (haha!) but thank God, we didn't.
You should have seen us, especially the percussion section, we were so happy we were jumping and screaming like mad dogs. "GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and especially since Brian was still hobbling along with crutches he screamed "BAI CAR GOT GOLD!!!!!" (hahah) it really was hilarious!
Hilariously good.
Though i was happy, or overjoyed, it was a bittersweet kind of thing.
Because after NBC, the seniors will not be coming to band anymore, and as you all know,
band without the seniors = boring!
Oh well, at least it was fun while it lasted, and i will never forget em. EVER.
How could I? When i intend to invite em to my wedding next time when i hold it, here?
Anyways.. i got to go now. Its late and i am awfully tired.
But before i leave......

Musique française..../ NBC
I was watching Mr Bean's Holiday and interestingly,
I am starting to develop an interest in French music.
Somehow it gives you a pleasant ambiance feeling to it,
its the care-free-ness, relaxed, laidback sound that i love.
Anyways, NBC (National Band Competition) is exactly 21 more days away.
Yup, NBC's on the 13th July, Sunday.
We will be playing 2 songs, Ka ze no mai (Dance of the wind) and United Nations March.
For Ka ze no mai, i am playing the claves, suspendered cymbal and the sleigh bells.
For the United Nations March, i am playing the TIMPANI! (This i find quite exciting...)
Heres the full Ka ze no mai song, i recorded using my mobile phone.
Its all of 5 min 32 sec.
However, the whole trumpet section was missing, hence the 'emptiness'
(Oopsy, i am sorry, the imeem website is currently down by when its fixed i'll upload the song right here.)
How quick the days come and go...
Tomorrow is monday.
Monday = To school.
SIGH.
I am sure i am not the only one who feels this way.
But at the same time, i have a little excitement brewing in me.
The kind that looks forward to calling your classmates those silly names you have for em.
Oh well, i guess all good things have to come to an end, whether we like it or not.
But i have one thing to be thankful for, this holiday was fun.
Oh yes, indeed it was, a good time of relaxing and at the same time, many of my days were
often packed with activities so as to keep me as far from this horrid 'thing' called "BOREDOM".
Alrighty, off to do other stuff now,
